We check your hearing benefit before you come in.

Many Washington health plans now include a hearing aid benefit. Plans differ, so we verify yours first. We always verify your insurance before quoting a price.

Have these ready when you call

With these in hand, we can usually check your benefit on the first call.

  • Your insurance card, front and back.
  • The plan holder’s name and date of birth, if the plan is through a spouse or parent.
  • Your employer, or the plan’s name if you know it (for example, Uniform Medical Plan for teachers, school staff and state employees).
  • Your last hearing test: where and roughly when. Results from the last six months may save you a visit.
  • Your current hearing aids, if you have any, and about how old they are.

How it works

  1. Call us with your insurance card handy.
  2. We verify your benefit with your plan and tell you what we find.
  3. We book the right visit. If you have hearing test results from the last six months (from an audiologist, an ear, nose and throat doctor, or a licensed hearing aid specialist), bring them: you may be able to go straight to a Hearing Aid Brief with Dr. Keylard. If not, we start with a hearing evaluation.

What Washington law says

Since January 1, 2026, state-regulated health plans in Washington must cover prescription hearing aids once every 36 months for each ear with hearing loss (RCW 48.43.135). Plans that employers fund themselves, Medicare and Medicare Advantage follow different rules. That is why we check first.

Coverage depends on your plan. Some plans require their own provider network or prior approval, and high-deductible plans may apply the deductible first. We verify before we quote.
